Aschersleben. Health is a top priority – and, as we all know, exercise can play a key role in this. With this in mind, the KVHS in Aschersleben is kicking off the new half-year of courses:
On Thursday 20 August at 7 pm, a Pilates class for beginners or those returning to the sport will begin in the WEMA Hall, the BbS gymnastics room. Pilates is a highly effective full-body workout that is gentle on the joints and strengthens the deep core muscles. Controlled movements combined with conscious breathing are designed to improve posture, prevent pain and promote mental relaxation.
On 24 August at 2.45 pm, a new programme for senior citizens is on the agenda. Over the course of six weeks of gymnastics, they will try out a range of activities that are sure to be enjoyable, beneficial and easy to incorporate into their daily lives. Gymnastics is ideal for older people as a way of maintaining or improving mobility. Through relaxation, stretching and strengthening exercises, participants will improve the flexibility of their musculoskeletal system and build muscle strength. Coordination and balance exercises, followed by relaxation exercises, round off each session. Anyone with physical limitations – such as those who can no longer stand for long periods or find it difficult to kneel – can perform the exercises with the aid of a gym stool.
“Back Fitness – Join in” starts on 25 August at 5.30 pm. The group session tackles back, shoulder and neck problems. Through mobilisation, stretching and strengthening exercises, course participants will work specifically to relieve tension, strengthen their abdominal and back muscles, and improve their posture and body awareness. By practising these exercises regularly in their everyday lives, they can ultimately feel fitter and more mobile.
