Apply for guardianship
Service description
A minor (under the age of 18) is assigned a guardian if they are not under parental care or if their parents are not entitled to represent them in matters relating to their person or property. This is the case if the parents have been deprived of all or part of their personal or financial care.
A minor is also assigned a guardian if their family status cannot be determined.
As a rule, the guardianship court selects the guardian after consulting the responsible youth welfare office.
First and foremost, consideration should be given to persons who, based on their personal circumstances, financial situation and other factors, are suitable and capable of assuming guardianship.
