Specialist Service 31 makes a significant contribution to human and animal safety in the areas of veterinary services (31.1) and consumer health protection (31.2). Its statutory
mandate is to protect animal health, monitor animal husbandry and protect consumers from the health risks posed by contaminated food and feed.

Responsibilities
- Request counselling on animal welfare
- Display the commercial handling of animal by-products
- Applying for an exemption from the obligation to dispose of animal by-products
- Import, transit, export and intra-Community movements in accordance with animal health and foodstuffs legislation Apply for authorisation
