Freckleben. The upgrade was completed on schedule. Following eight months of construction, District Administrator Markus Bauer officially reopened the K 1330 district road from Freckleben to the Mansfeld-Südharz district boundary to traffic on Thursday, 7 May.
"We have now closed this remaining gap in our road network and are making traffic here smoother and safer in line with today's standards." At the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony with invited guests, the district administrator expressed his delight at the punctually completed expansion project in the district road network, which is particularly important for the close connection between the town of Aschersleben and Arnstein in the neighbouring district. The route of the Wipper cycle path also runs along the upgraded section.
"Infrastructure sets the pace for our entire residential, economic and scientific centre. They keep rural areas and people together and the money invested shapes the towns and landscapes for generations to come," explains Markus BauerThe Salzland district therefore invited Freckleben's mayor Frank Hänsgen (2nd from right in the photo), Steffen Amme (2nd from left), the mayor of Aschersleben, and the mayor of Freckleben (2nd from right in the photo) to the official traffic release with project participants. From right to left), Steffen Amme (2nd from left), the mayor of Aschersleben, and Janet Klaus (centre), the mayor of the unified municipality of Arnstein, and Nina Stähle (3rd from left), the mayor of Sandersleben, which the road connects, from the neighbouring district.
District Administrator Markus Bauer thanked all those involved and the companies commissioned for the good realisation, including the specialist department of his district administration headed by Tilo Wechselberger. The engineering firm PMI from Magdeburg prepared the planning documents and supervised the construction work. The construction work was realised by KEMNA BAU Ost GmbH & Co. KG from Leipzig
The section of road that has now been upgraded, which is almost 1.3 kilometres long, was in a poor condition and the damaged road surface, mainly made of cobblestones, was too narrow for today's requirements. The road was completely rebuilt and asphalted over a width of at least six metres. There is a verge on both sides with drainage. In the area of the railway subway, the carriageway had to be narrowed. The speed limit here is 30 kilometres per hour.
A total of 2,300 square metres of soil were moved for the construction project in order to ultimately close the gap between the already asphalted road sections on both sides of the district border from Freckleben to Sandersleben with 7,800 square metres of asphalt.
At the ground-breaking ceremony eight months ago, Head of Specialist Services Tilo Wechselberger said: "We are currently expecting to spend 1.5 million euros on the project, including planning, and have included this item in the budget for our district roads." So far, all plans have worked out as planned.
