Bernburg. Not only is she committed to promoting German-Georgian cultural exchange in the Salzlandkreis, she is also a fantastic pianist. Georgian Embassy Counsellor Dudana Mazmanishvili will give a concert at the Carl Maria von Weber Theatre in Bernburg on Saturday, 10 October at 5 pm as part of the partnership between the Salzlandkreis and the town of Baghdati in Georgia. The event is entitled: “Georgia as our guest: from Tbilisi to Bernburg – A piano recital with Dudana Mazmanishvili.” Tickets are available online from Bernburger Theater- und Veranstaltungs gGmbH, amongst others, as well as at the Bernburg Tourist Information Centre at Lindenplatz 9.
“Music brings people together across all borders,” says District Administrator Markus Bauer. “The fact that a pianist like Dudana Mazmanishvili is performing here in Bernburg is a real stroke of luck for the whole region. And it shows that our partnership with Baghdati is thriving: through regular exchanges between the local authorities and, now, also through personal encounters at a cultural level.” Indeed, musical tradition links Georgia and Germany: even the ‘Arabian Dance’ from Tchaikovsky’s ‘The Nutcracker’ traces its origins back to a Georgian lullaby.
“I’m really looking forward to the concert, to the audience in Bernburg and to the interaction,” says the pianist from Georgia, who has already given concerts in New York, Paris, Vienna and Berlin. This will be her first performance in the Salzlandkreis. Thanks to the support of the Salzlandsparkasse, she will be performing Johannes Brahms’s Three Intermezzi, Op. 117, Mozart’s Piano Sonata in A major featuring the famous ‘Alla turca’, and Brahms’s Variations and Fugue on a Theme by George Frideric Handel. Dudana Masmanishvili grew up in Georgia, studied in Munich and New York, and is now in charge of cultural affairs at the Georgian Embassy in Berlin.
