Bernburg/Freckleben. Work is now underway on the remaining 1,300 metres of district road behind Freckleben to the southern district border towards Sandersleben in the Mansfeld-Südharz district. The Salzland district is also upgrading the last dilapidated section of the K 1330 on an open stretch, most of which is still cobbled. At the ground-breaking ceremony on Tuesday with the contracted company KEMNA Bau Ost, Tilo Wechselberger, head of the department responsible for district roads, welcomed employees of the Magdeburg planning office PMI, as well as Aschersleben's mayor Steffen Amme and Freckleben's mayor Frank Hänsgen, on behalf of District Administrator Markus Bauer.
"We are closing one last gap at this point after the district road between Mehringen near us and Sandersleben in the neighbouring district has already been renewed. This was also urgently needed and was on our list of priorities agreed with the district council. The necessary preparatory work has been completed and now we can realise the road expansion with the available funds," says District Administrator Markus Bauer. "Together with the residents and road users, we are looking forward to the result at the residential and business location when the road infrastructure as a whole is brought up to date." The District Administrator would like to thank the PMI planning office and his own employees in the relevant specialist department for their work to date and wishes everyone involved smooth progress.
The planned construction period for the measure is from mid-September through the winter up to and including April next year. Head of specialist services Tilo Wechselberger repeated on site what he had already explained in detail to citizens at an information event in Freckleben last week: the section of road with its damaged surface and kerbs no longer complies with current regulations due to its width of just over five and a half metres. A fundamental expansion with widening is necessary. This involves the grass verges to the right and left, the railway bridge subway with the carriageway, three access roads to subordinate paths and the connection to the upgraded asphalt road at the district boundary. "We currently expect the cost of the measures to be 1.5 million euros, including planning, and have included this item in the budget for our district roads."
