Exchange of driving licences (by year of issue)
What you need to bring with you:
- Valid identity card or passport with current registration certificate (not older than one month)
- Paper photograph that complies with the provisions of the Passport Regulation of 19 October 2007 (no digital photos)
- the existing/current driving licence (if the driving licence was not issued in the Salzland district, please request a copy of the file card from the issuing authority)
An application/issue is possible at the driving licence authority at the 3 locations in Aschersleben, Bernburg (Saale) and Schönebeck (Elbe) as well as in the towns of Nienburg (Saale), Staßfurt, Barby, the municipality of Bördeland and the municipality of Egelner Mulde.
Paper driving licence
From 01.10.2019, the exchange of driving licences will begin as follows due to the legal regulation:

Note: For holders of a card driving licence with a date of birth prior to 1953, the exchange date is 19 January 2033.
