Vehicle: Motor vehicles – except for motor vehicles in categories AM, A1, A2 and A – with a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 3,500 kg, designed and constructed for the carriage of no more than eight persons in addition to the driver (also with trailers with a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 750 kg or with trailers exceeding 750 kg maximum authorised mass, provided that the maximum authorised mass of the combination does not exceed 3,500 kg).

• Address of the instructing driving school
• Address of the testing organisation (e.g. TÜV or DEKRA if the training takes place outside Saxony-Anhalt and notification of testing location)
• Signature sticker for the production of the card driving licence if already available, otherwise this is done here when the application is submitted

An application/issue is possible at the driving licence authority as well as at the town of Nienburg (Saale), the town of Staßfurt, the municipality of Bördeland and the municipality of Egelner Mulde.

Vehicle: A Class B driving licence may be issued with the code number 96 for vehicle combinations consisting of a Class B motor vehicle and a trailer with a maximum authorised mass exceeding 750 kg, provided that the maximum authorised mass of the vehicle combination exceeds 3500 kg but does not exceed 4250 kg.

Applications are only processed at the driving licence authority in Bernburg (Saale).

Requirements: A Class B driving licence may be issued with the code number 196 if:

1. the holder has held a German category B driving licence without interruption for the last 5 years (or longer). Possession of a driving licence from an EU or EEA country may be taken into account. The test is carried out by the driving licence authority;
2. the applicant has reached the minimum age of 25 years at the time of issue;
3. proof (in accordance with Annex 7b FeV) of successful participation in a "driving training course" of at least nine teaching units (TU) of 90 minutes each (theory at least four and practice at least five TU);
4. there is a maximum of one year between driving training and registration.

Holders of a category B 196 driving licence are entitled to drive category A1 motorbikes (with sidecar) (engine capacity 125 qcm, engine power not exceeding 11 kW, with a power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.1 kW/kg) in addition to category B vehicles. The training prescribed for category A1 does not have to be completed in full. A theoretical and practical test does not have to be taken.

The registration only authorises you to drive within the Federal Republic of Germany.
