Transfer of a foreign driving licence
For EU or EEA driving licences or a country listed in Annex 11 FeV for the categories
- A, A1, B, BE, M, L, T, S
- C, CE, C1, C1E
- D, DE, D1, D1E
Transfer of a foreign EU or EEA driving licence or driving licence from a country listed in Annex 11 to Section 31 FeV
- Valid identity card or passport with current registration certificate (not older than 90 days)
- Paper photograph that complies with the provisions of the Passport Regulation of 19 October 2007 (no digital photos)
- Foreign driving licence (must be presented at the time of application and submitted to the
- hand over the German driving licence)
- Translation of the foreign driving licence
Applications can only be submitted at the driving licence authority.
Driving licences can also be issued in the citizens' offices of the Salzland district.
Transfer of a foreign driving licence for categories A | A1 | B | BE | M | L | T | S (non-EU driving licence)
- Valid identity card or passport with current extended registration certificate (not older than 90 days)
- Paper photograph that complies with the provisions of the Passport Regulation of 19 October 2007 (no digital photos)
- an eye test certificate (not older than two years)
- Proof of participation in first aid training
- Foreign driving licence (this is then retained to check its authenticity and remains at the driving licence authority after the German driving licence has been issued)
- Translation of the foreign driving licence
- Declaration of authenticity and validity of the driving licence
- Address of the training driving school
- Address of the testing organisation (e.g. TÜV or DEKRA if the training takes place outside Saxony-Anhalt and notification of testing location)
Applications are only submitted and processed at the driving licence authority in Bernburg.
Transfer of a foreign driving licence for categories C | CE | C1 | C1E (non-EU driving licence)
- Valid identity card or passport with current extended registration certificate (not older than 90 days)
- Paper photograph that complies with the provisions of the Passport Regulation of 19 October 2007 (no digital photos)
- An ophthalmological certificate - not older than two years in accordance with Annex 6 of the FeV
- A certificate of physical or mental aptitude in accordance with the official model in Annex 5 FeV - not older than one year
- Certificate of participation in first aid training
- Foreign driving licence (this is then retained to check its authenticity and remains at the driving licence authority after the German driving licence has been issued)
- Translation of the foreign driving licence
- Declaration of authenticity and validity of the driving licence
- Address of the training driving school

Transfer of a foreign driving licence for categories D | DE | D1 | D1E (non-EU driving licence)
- Valid identity card or passport with current extended registration certificate (not older than 90 days)
- Paper photograph that complies with the provisions of the Passport Regulation of 19 October 2007 (no digital photos)
- Certificate of good conduct in accordance with § 30 of the Federal Central Criminal Register Act (BZRG) (to be applied for at the responsible registration office and sent directly to the Salzlandkreis, 32 FD Ordnung und Straßenverkehr, Fahrerlaubnisbehörde in 06400 Bernburg (Saale) The certificate of good conduct must not be older than 3 months at the time of application.
