Information for holders of a Ukrainian driving licence with protection status
Based on the information available, holders of a Ukrainian driving licence do not need to have it reissued in Germany.
A corresponding regulation (VO) has been issued by the EU and will apply from 27 July 2022. According to Article 9(2) of the regulation, the EU regulation will expire on the day following the day on which the period of temporary protection specified in the so-called Mass Influx Directive ends. However, this will be no later than 4 March 2026. This means that all valid driving licences issued by Ukraine will be recognised in the EU, provided that the persons concerned are subject to protection status.
In addition, the EU Official Journal publication of 22 July 2022 establishing special and temporary measures on driver documents issued by Ukraine (REGULATION (EU) 2022/1280) is attached.
