ESF+ programme "Ensuring school success"
Since 2008, Saxony-Anhalt has been implementing the "Ensuring School Success" support programme, which is financed by the ESF+. The programme aims to ensure a high level of general education for all children and young people. The focus of the programme is on reducing and preventing early school leaving without a recognised school leaving certificate and promoting equal access to high-quality primary and secondary education, including (formal, non-formal and informal) educational pathways that enable a return to general and vocational education.
The programme pursues a holistic development approach. To this end, the following three modules are supported:
a) regional network centres,
b) needs-based school social work
, c) support, advice and guidance for project organisers from a coordination centre.
The school social workers work at 355 schools of all school types and offer support and educational services for all children and young people, their guardians and the educational staff in the schools.
School social work is carried out in close co-operation between schools and youth welfare services and is a support and educational offer for all children and young people, their parents and teachers. The programme focuses on socio-educational projects of needs-oriented school social work at schools of all types. School social work under this programme is particularly concerned with compensating for social disadvantage and overcoming individual obstacles. The services and support offered include counselling and support for individual pupils, as well as socio-educational group work and open contact and leisure activities for all children and young people.
The first funding cycle of the ESF+ programme "Ensuring School Success" began on 1 August 2022. The second funding cycle of the ESF+ programme started on 1 August 2024.
The innovative potential of the project lies in the coordinated state-wide cooperation between schools, municipalities and districts to increase the success of pupils of all school types in Saxony-Anhalt.
The network centre "School Success in the Salzlandkreis" is part of the ESF+ programme "Ensuring School Success" and is supported and funded by the European Social Fund and a municipal financial contribution from the Salzlandkreis. It is one of 14 regional network centres for school success in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
