Our school

The special school "J. H. Pestalozzi" Staßfurt is located in the "Nord" district.

Together with the primary school and the "Hermann Kasten" community school, we form the "Nord" school centre.

In the 2020/21 school year, we had a total of 175 pupils in 20 classes. They were taught and supervised by 25 teachers and 11 educational staff.

We are also a member of the "Egelner Mulde" support centre.

The educational programmes at our school consist of primary, secondary and special education.

Pupils with a focus on emotional-social development can attend our school in equalisation classes up to grade 6. The catchment area is the Salzland district.

After the 6th school year at the latest, further schooling in a mainstream school close to home is sought.

Our school also has pupils with a special learning focus up to year 9.

School profile

Our aim is to support pupils with special educational needs, in co-operation with parents, guardians, school support staff and their sponsors, and to successfully integrate all learners into our society.

Our school is a special school with two different specialisms.

Focus on learning

• School attendance grades 1-9
• Goal: Secondary school certificate, possibly extended certificate
• Classes with a maximum of 15 pupils

Focus on emotional-social development

• School attendance grades 1-6
• Goal: Reintegration into mainstream school
• Classes with a maximum of 9 pupils
• Educational staff in every class

Our special school sees it as one of its tasks to offer all pupils who cannot be educated in joint classes a school alternative.

As we see diversity as an opportunity, our school community includes pupils from different social and cultural backgrounds and with a wide range of prerequisites and support needs.

Mission statement

The guiding principle of our special school is to achieve the best possible school-leaving qualification for all pupils in the appropriate form of schooling.

In order to implement the guiding principle, the organisation of learning, cooperation with parents and interaction with each other must be adapted to the needs and requirements of the pupils.

Support for these pupils aims to develop basic behavioural patterns with a high degree of understanding, special personal attention and pedagogical-psychological support.

Pupils, teachers and parents feel jointly responsible for a culture of learning and working that is based on mutual appreciation and acceptance, that encourages and challenges performance and provides pupils with a framework for successful learning.

Short distances and permanent cooperation guarantee little effort for parents and pupils when implementing reintegrative measures.

• Further and advanced training for the best possible implementation of school social work

Places of learning

• Pupils have modern classrooms, specialist rooms and group rooms at their disposal.
• Each class in the primary section has a classroom and a group room.
• It is possible to use a Snoezel room.
• The secondary school has specialist rooms for chemistry, physics, biology, art, technology, geography, home economics and a computer lab.
• All grades use the newly built Salzland sports hall.
• The break areas are separate for primary and secondary school.

School café

Our school café has been operating since 7 June 2007. It was founded in 2006 and is registered in the regional company register under the name "Café Macciato S-GmbH". Our current co-operation partner is Salzlandküche GmbH. As a "non-profit company", we finance the school company solely through the income generated and are not profit-orientated. Surpluses in the sales year are donated directly to charitable causes, such as the purchase of our magnificent Christmas tree for the atrium this year.

Special tasks within the framework of school operations include the following:

• Production and sale of products for consumption

• Planning and realisation of project days (e.g. healthy eating)

• Organising and catering for school festivals and class celebrations (Christmas market, sports festival)
