Applying for a residence permit for a foreign skilled worker via the fast-track skilled worker procedure
Service description
The fast-track skilled worker procedure shortens the entire process, from the submission of the application to the first day of work.
To apply for the fast-track skilled worker procedure, you will need a letter of authorisation from your future skilled worker.
Family members travelling with the skilled worker may also apply for a residence permit under the fast-track procedure for skilled workers, provided they enter the country no later than six months after the skilled worker’s arrival.
You apply for the fast-track skilled worker procedure at the Foreigners’ Registration Office with which you enter into a relevant agreement. As a rule, this is the central contact point or the ‘central Foreigners’ Registration Office’ in your federal state. This office advises you throughout the entire procedure and grants preliminary approval in the visa application process. The diplomatic mission must then offer an appointment for the visa application within 3 weeks and reach a decision on it within a further 3 weeks.
Who should I contact?
Contact the foreigners authority.

Legal basis
Legal remedy
You cannot lodge an appeal if prior consent is not granted. The reason is that prior consent is not an administrative act; it is merely an internal administrative decision.
You may lodge an appeal against the decision of the relevant recognition authority in the professional recognition procedure. This also applies to the decision of the relevant authority regarding the granting of a professional licence. If your visa application is refused, you may also lodge an appeal with the diplomatic mission.
You must lodge these appeals directly with the relevant authority, outside the fast-track procedure for skilled workers.
