Apply for an extension of a residence permit on the basis of recognition of professional qualifications, following an agreement with the Federal Employment Agency
Service description
You hold a residence permit issued in recognition of your foreign professional qualification and have been placed in a job following an agreement between the Federal Employment Agency and the employment services in your country of origin.
If the recognition process has not yet been finalised, you can apply to extend your residence permit.
To do this, you must meet the same requirements as when you first applied. This includes ensuring that you have sufficient means to support yourself during the extension. The Federal Employment Agency must also approve your employment. It will only do so if you are undergoing the recognition procedure with the relevant authority.
If your residence permit is extended, it will once again be valid for a limited period. A residence permit granted in recognition of professional qualifications following an agreement with the Federal Employment Agency is extended for one year at a time, up to a maximum duration of three years.
Even with an extended residence permit, you are allowed to work up to 20 hours a week on a part-time basis
