Bernburg. The Salzlandkreis is expanding its training provision for local fire services at district level. For the first time, firefighters who use breathing apparatus will have the opportunity to undertake so-called live-fire training. Three seminars are initially planned for this year. District Administrator Markus Bauer says: “We are thereby sending a clear signal in favour of future-oriented and practical training at district level. At the same time, we are strengthening voluntary work in this area, which is so important for the population. After all, a motivated and well-trained fire service is just as much a part of an attractive place to live, do business and conduct research.”
In this context, the District Administrator would like to thank the responsible fire, disaster control and rescue service for their preparations, as well as BOS112 Risc-Management GmbH in Bernburg, where the participants will complete the first course at the end of April.
District fire chief Tobias Schumann says: "Operations are becoming more complex and more dangerous. This makes it all the more important that our comrades can train regularly under realistic conditions." The fire services in the towns and municipalities have already been informed about the programme and the special access requirements.
With the new programme, the district administration is responding to the discontinuation of a similar course at the Institute for Fire and Disaster Protection of Saxony-Anhalt in Heyrothsberge. "We are closing a gap, because we want high-quality training that better protects those who risk their own lives to help others when in doubt," says the district administrator. He thanks all those who volunteer in this area, which is so important for society.
District fire chief Tobias Schumann adds that the course offers ideal conditions for consolidating tactical procedures and teamwork in a practical manner. "Theory alone is not enough in the fire service. You have to feel the heat and internalise procedures." Martina Lorenz, the responsible head of the specialised service, explains that the Salzland district is always committed to a high level of training for the fire services - to which the real fire training also makes a major contribution. "Ultimately, this is also important in order to enable smooth cooperation across local fire services in the event of an emergency."
In fact, this real fire training is an important component of modern fire service training. Fires can be controlled or simulated in specially designed facilities - with real flames, heat development and smoke gases. In this way, firefighters learn how to deal safely with extreme situations without taking unnecessary risks.
