Bernburg. The joint spring clean-up campaign organised by the towns and parishes in the Salzlandkreis district has come to an end. Local media covered the event in many places and reported on the hard-working volunteers. District Administrator Markus Bauer has also been following the campaign closely. He would like to thank everyone involved: “You’re rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in, showing your commitment to your village and your town. After all, we all want a beautiful home – clean and lovely. To anyone who does their bit, I say thank you. It is important to me to do so publicly as well.”
For five weeks, volunteers in the Salzland district were once again called upon by the district administrator together with the towns and municipalities, supported by the district economic enterprise KWB, to take part in the traditional spring clean-up to make dirty spots in the public image disappear. The focus was on parks, field and forest paths, bodies of water and field margins, as well as community cleaning after the winter.
How many people actually took part in the major public clean-up is something that the municipalities in particular know. "In any case, we handed out 2,457 pairs of gloves and almost 4,000 bin bags," says the new KWB manager, Dirk Trappe, taking stock. "All order forms and weighing slips have been analysed. We collected 29.23 tonnes of mixed municipal waste, which we accepted at our recycling centres. I can only add my thanks to all the helpers in the operation."
In view of these results, District Administrator Markus Bauer sees both the sense and necessity of such campaign weeks. "They create a good feeling for everyone who cares about their home. They strengthen our community and enhance the Salzland district as a place to live."
