Groß Börnecke. Traffic has been flowing freely along Bahnhofstraße again for several days now, following the completion of the construction work. On Wednesday, the thoroughly refurbished section of District Road 1302 passing through Groß Börnecke was officially opened. The district administration had invited representatives from the town of Hecklingen, the mayor of Groß Börnecke and the companies involved. Tilo Wechselberger, head of the department responsible for district and economic development, welcomed the guests and numerous residents of Bahnhofstraße who had gathered to witness the reopening of the road.
Tilo Wechselberger thanked everyone involved in the project for their constructive cooperation in ensuring the project was completed on schedule. The engineering firm J. Lübbers and Strabag AG, Magdeburg branch, were commissioned to carry out the planning work and the construction. Wechselberger’s specialist department coordinated the entire process, from preparation through to completion, as is the case with all similar road construction and infrastructure projects in the district.
Like the local residents, Mayor Muschalle-Höllbach of Groß Börnecke was delighted with the road improvements. She expressed her hope for further development projects in collaboration with the district authority. The district council had produced a special information leaflet for the joint construction project with the town and distributed it to local residents, which was well received.
District Administrator Markus Bauer commented: “The Salzlandkreis is making targeted investments in its infrastructure. It makes sense to join forces. Here, we are completing a project – prioritised for many years – to renovate roads within the town, using the available funds and pragmatic solutions. In doing so, we are enhancing our appeal as a place to live and do business, entirely in line with our strategy for the future.”
The Salzlandkreis has completely resurfaced the section of the K 1302 through Groß Börnecke – from the level crossing at the edge of the village in the direction of Athensleben to the junction with the K 1306 – in two construction phases as planned. The work was carried out whilst taking local traffic into account and including a winter break. A new asphalt surface and drainage systems were installed along approximately 340 metres of Bahnhofstraße in the village. The existing 210-metre-long footpath was also renewed, whilst the trees and green spaces were largely preserved. The town of Hecklingen does not have to contribute any funds towards these ancillary works, as the project forms part of the mutual agreement to settle the legal disputes concerning the level of district levies.
With the completion of the construction project in Groß Börnecke, the Salzlandkreis is investing a total of 942,000 euros from its budget in transport infrastructure.
