Bernburg. There are less than ten months to go until Saxony-Anhalt Day in Bernburg (Saale). From 5 to 7 June 2026, the district town on the River Saale will once again host the state festival under the motto “Where Saxony-Anhalt meets”. Since the kick-off event with stakeholders in May, the organisers have been working on the practical preparations across the board.
"When the decision in favour of Bernburg was made, we were particularly pleased with and for the town and the region," says District Administrator Markus Bauer, "and then immediately thought about the necessary requirements, the necessary work and the coordination." The Salzland district has a special role to play here and is supporting Bernburg (Saale) in the successful realisation of the project. "Of course, we are also hoping for a particularly high level of local participation from our clubs, organisations and institutions. For us, this is a perfect opportunity to draw attention to our home region, its people and the potential that has developed since the first Saxony-Anhalt Day in 1996, when a quarter of a million people visited Bernburg.
For the third time in its own district - there was also a Saxony-Anhalt Day in Aschersleben in 2004 - the division of the festival area in the town, security concepts and all the necessary infrastructure alone place completely new demands on the organiser this time. The town on the Saale is liaising closely with the relevant departments of the district administration on this issue in particular.
In the coming weeks and months, the focus will be on the content of the programmes for the regional villages, on the stages, setting up and dismantling, contracts with partners and artists and public relations work. The Salzland district itself will once again present itself in the Elbe-Böde-Heide regional village and organise the performances of its musicians or dancers on stage there. This will be organised by the cultural division of the district's education department. Coordination takes place both with the town and with colleagues from the regional village. Like every other district or independent town in Saxony-Anhalt, the Salzland district also works with the host town of Bernburg (Saale) to collect its own registrations for the large, colourful programme of the Saxony-Anhalt Day.
Clubs, associations, organisations and local providers from the Salzlandkreis can now register to take part in the “Elbe-Börde-Heide” regional village, either in the stage programme or, of course, in the parade. The Salzlandkreis has set up a dedicated page on its website containing the relevant forms and further information.
Applications can be submitted until 7 October. The Salzlandkreis is looking forward to receiving plenty of entries and high-quality contributions for Saxony-Anhalt Day next June in Bernburg (Saale).
