Staßfurt. Different forms of division of labour – a Year 11 class at the vocational grammar school of the Salzlandkreis WEMA vocational training schools in Staßfurt gained their first experience of the topic in class a few days ago through a practical exercise: they worked individually and in groups to make small books from A4 pages. The quantity and time were precisely specified, and the pressure was correspondingly high. The advantages and disadvantages associated with the division of labour were the focus of the lesson in business and economics, which District Administrator Markus Bauer and Headmaster Sascha Bock also attended.

The district administrator's visit was part of a planned working visit. The aim: "I want to stay in dialogue with the headmaster and teachers in order to find solutions to challenges together before the hurdles become too high," explains Markus Bauer. Background: The Salzland district is responsible for the vocational schools in the region and therefore for their facilities. In line with the Salzlandkreis 2030 future strategy, education is a high priority. "Schools with modern framework conditions are important factors for rural areas. We are doing our best to ensure that the region between Halle and Magdeburg is perceived as an attractive place to live, do business and study."
After the lesson, Markus Bauer then met with student representatives from the specialised secondary school, the vocational school and the vocational grammar school to exchange ideas. This involved an assessment of the general conditions at the school as well as prospects in the Salzland district. There was also a tour with the two student representatives Johanna Blauwitz and Stella Wagner. After the visit, the district administrator was convinced that the decision made years ago to strengthen the location of the vocational school in Staßfurt with the vocational grammar school was the right one.
There are currently 1279 pupils attending the vocational schools I of the Salzland district WEMA at the locations in Aschersleben and Staßfurt. 74 teachers teach them according to the guiding principles of the school programme. According to this programme, the focus is on teaching values for a self-confident, tolerant life - both in the context of one's own identity and in social interaction. Modern technology is available for this purpose, enabling pupils to familiarise themselves with the digital possibilities and shape their lives in innovative ways.
