occurs when

• the person seeking help cannot help themselves by using their labour, income or assets;
• the person seeking help is unable to obtain the necessary assistance from third parties or from relatives or providers of other social benefits.

Advice and applications are handled by the Social Services Department in Aschersleben. Application
forms are available from the citizens' offices.

is for people who are significantly restricted in their ability to participate in society due to a disability or who are at risk of this. The benefit is intended to enable these people to plan and lead their lives as independently and autonomously as possible.

is for people who cannot independently compensate for or cope with their physical, cognitive or mental impairments or health-related stresses or demands

Care assistance benefits can be:

• home care (in the form of cash benefits or benefits in kind from outpatient care services or employer and assistance models);
• Aids (e.g. care bed, care aids, access aids);
• partial inpatient care (as day or night care);
• Short-term care (as temporary full inpatient care);
• full inpatient care.

occurs if there are no entitlements from other social benefit providers or if their benefits are not sufficient to cover living expenses

• for persons who have not yet reached the age limit according to § 41 paragraph 2 SGB XII (65 and x months) and are temporarily incapacitated for work, provided they do not live together with persons capable of work;
• for persons up to the age of 15 if they do not live together with persons in need of assistance who are capable of work;
• for persons aged 16 to 18 if they are unable to work themselves and do not live with people in need of assistance who are capable of working;
• for persons who have reached the age of 63 and are drawing an old-age pension.

• for persons over the age of 18 if they are permanently fully disabled;
• for persons who have reached the age limit according to § 41 paragraph 2 SGB XII (65 and x months).

• for people whose special circumstances are associated with social difficulties

• Help for the continuation of the household
• Elderly care
• Assistance in other life situations
• Funeral costs
