Museum education
The Salzland Museum offers many different educational programmes that invite visitors to participate, linger, entertain and learn. Whether for schoolchildren as part of extracurricular learning, for senior citizens for class reunions, for travel groups or individual tourists - guided tours of one of the three permanent exhibitions or a tour of the entire museum are in constant demand. Especially for school classes, there is the option of adding a practical part to the tour to create a project or hiking day.
For visitors interested in museums, offers are developed for events such as the Museum Night, both for adults and children, and the International Museum Day.
Examples of guided tours and projects:
- Combined tour with the solar park (graduation tower, brine fountain,...)
- Craft salt with leather bag project
- Cultural identification project: From the Stone Age to the Early Bronze Age
Library and archive

The Salzland Museum has a library with subject areas on the art and cultural history of the Salzland district, salt history, shipping on the Elbe and Saale rivers and industrial history. This can be used by schoolchildren, students, scientists and all interested citizens.
The archive contains archival material on the history of the museum, texts and images of Schönebeck and the surrounding area as well as regional history.
Requests to use the library and archive must be made in advance.
Gallery hall
The Salzland Museum's gallery hall regularly hosts readings, concerts, lectures and other events on a wide variety of topics. The hall can also be hired for conferences, events and functions.
It is also possible to organise weddings for up to 90 people in the gallery hall. These are organised by the Schönebeck registry office. Another room is available for smaller weddings with up to ten people.
