Fuhneradweg

The Fuhneradweg is a regionally significant cycle path in the Salzland district. It connects the Saalestadt Bernburg in the west with Altjeßnitz an der Mulde in the east (Anhalt-Bitterfeld district) over a distance of around 70 kilometres. Its course follows the River Fuhne, which has a special natural phenomenon in the Salzland district: the bifurcation, where the river splits and flows in two different directions - both to the Saale and the Mulde.
The route leads through the open cultural landscape typical of the Salzland district with fields, meadows and small villages. On largely flat field and farm tracks, the Fuhneradweg is also suitable for families. On the way, it passes through villages such as Baalberge, Lebendorf and Wiendorf and thus opens up regions that are closely linked to the agricultural and settlement history of the Salzland district. Various information boards along the route explain the bifurcation and provide an overview of the region's history
Cultural highlights include sights such as the synagogue and Jewish museum in Gröbzig (Anhalt-Bitterfeld district) and various village churches along the route. In Bernburg, there is a connection to the Saaleradweg cycle route, meaning that the Fuhneradweg fits seamlessly into the supra-regional cycle route network and connects the Salzland district with other tour destinations.
