"Drawing from the full"
Exhibition with works by the studio community "Schöpfrad" from 14 March to 21 June 2026
In April 1994, several like-minded people came together to form the Schöpfrad e.V. studio community. To this day, the aim is to give citizens the opportunity to engage in artistic and practical activities and to promote their own understanding of art. The association has an average of 25 permanent members with a wide range of intergenerational activities. In addition to regular weekly meetings, the association organises workshops, courses and exhibitions. It is also involved in the realisation of projects and public events.
The studio community is located in the attic of an old water tower mill on the Eine tributary in Aschersleben. The name of the association is a reference to the history of the building: in the past, water was drawn from the river to mill cloth; today, creative ideas are created. The members of the association are open to new artistic techniques and forms of design. This is reflected in this exhibition: a wide variety of motifs, genres, techniques and materials. In addition to classic acrylic, watercolour and oil paintings, graphics in relief and intaglio printing as well as sculptural works made of wood, soapstone, alabaster and clay, visitors can also see exhibits painted with pure natural materials such as bog lye and advocado ink. Various arts and crafts techniques are also presented ─ from model making to works made of silk, felt and macramé to porcelain painting objects.
The members of the association also went in search of motifs in Bad Salzelmen especially for the exhibition. Historical places and buildings in the area were immortalised and can be admired in the special exhibition.
