Apply for support in a shared accommodation scheme for mothers or fathers and their children
Service description
If you are a single parent looking after a child under the age of 6 and need help with bringing them up or with day-to-day life, you can receive support, together with your child, at a suitable residential facility.
Examples of suitable types of accommodation include:
- Mother-and-child or father-and-child centres
- supported shared accommodation for single parents
- supported independent living
Care is usually provided for as long as you need it. Older siblings can be included if you are solely responsible for them.
If you are pregnant, you can be admitted even before your baby is born.
With your consent, the other parent may also be involved. That is why visits and occasional overnight stays by the other parent are encouraged. This also applies if the other parent accompanies the child, for example, to the paediatrician or to deal with official matters. In certain cases, joint care within the residential setting is also possible. For example, to support you in your role as a responsible parent and to strengthen family bonds.
During the support programme, you will receive assistance in starting or continuing your schooling, vocational training or work.
