Reporting the loss of the registration certificate part I

The vehicle registration authority in your district or city (main residence) is responsible for this.

• A written application in the prescribed form must be submitted to the relevant registration authority, stating the owner and vehicle details.
  The application can also be completed at the registration authority.

• Valid identity card (no copies) of the vehicle owner or passport with registration certificate from the registration authority of the place of residence. The registration certificate must not be older than three months.
  If the vehicle owner is not a natural person, further documents are required to identify the owner.

Additionally in case of damage:

• The damaged registration certificate must be presented to the licensing authority. A replacement will be issued.

Additionally in case of loss:

• The remaining Part II of the registration certificate (vehicle registration document).
• Affirmation in lieu of an oath (a telephone or written notification to the licensing authority is not sufficient); declaration of loss, if applicable.
• In the event of theft, confirmation from the police.
• Inspection report from the last main inspection that has not yet expired (not required if the first main inspection was not yet due).
• Test report of the last safety inspection that has not yet expired (if prescribed).
