Apply for family and educational counselling
Service description
Children, young people, parents and other guardians can contact parenting and family counselling centres for advice on parenting issues, personal or family-related problems, and questions and conflicts relating to separation and divorce. Depending on the age of the
child or young person, reasons for seeking counselling may include developmental delays, sleep, eating and speech disorders, or anxiety. At school age, performance and behavioural problems often arise, which can increase in intensity during puberty. Parents often feel overwhelmed by their
parenting responsibilities. However, relationship difficulties between parents and problems associated with separation and divorce also often require professional help and support from parenting and family counselling centres.
Parents and other guardians have a legal right to parenting advice. The necessary discussions, examinations and counselling sessions are free of charge for those seeking advice.
Children and young people can also visit a counselling centre without their parents being present.
Thirty-eight family counselling centres are funded by the state of Saxony-Anhalt.Legal basis
