On Sunday 13 September 2026, the Weltkulturerbe Salzlandkreis e. V. is hosting a big family festival at the Pretzien weir, starting at 10 am. Admission is free and there will be plenty of activities for young and old alike.
As well as guided tours of the Pretzien weir, there will be, amongst other things, a classic car meet, a craft and farmers’ market, and a varied programme of stage performances. There are plenty of hands-on activities for children, including a children’s water laboratory, craft stations and a bouncy castle.
A particular highlight is the world record attempt with Kelles Suppenmanufaktur: the aim is to prepare 500 litres of Altmark wedding soup together. THW, 1.FC Magdeburg, the Water Rescue Service and the Schönebeck Youth Fire Brigade will also be taking part with demonstrations and information stands.
