Atzendorf. The road has been completely closed since Monday. The Salzlandkreis district is carrying out a major upgrade of District Road 1302 from the outskirts of Atzendorf to the roundabout with State Road 71. At the official ground-breaking ceremony this morning, District Administrator Markus Bauer (3rd from right) and Head of Department Tilo Wechselberger (2nd from right) welcomed, among the attendees, Atzendorf’s Mayor Peter Rotter (left in the picture), as well as representatives of the construction company Jaeger Spezial- und Tiefbau GmbH + Co. KG from Bernburg.
"Renewing this transport link in the Stassfurt area was a top priority for us," explains District Administrator Markus Bauer. "The fact that we are now able to finance it as the first project in the Salzland district via the federal government's special infrastructure fund shows how important modern transport infrastructure is in rural areas. What we are investing here today pays direct dividends for the residential and business location. By installing a traffic island, we have taken up a wish expressed by the residents of Atzendorf in order to increase road safety in the town."
The district road serves as the main traffic link between the villages of Atzendorf, Lust and Neu-Staßfurt with a relatively high proportion of heavy goods and agricultural traffic. The K 1302 connects to the higher-level road network and provides the link between the state roads 71 and 50. The existing surface cracks and ruts became even more apparent after last winter. It is not without reason that the necessary renewal is in second place on the list of road priorities adopted by the district council. The district administration had already been planning the construction project in two sections since the end of 2024 with the Halle-based engineering firm Seidel GbR and with expected total costs of around 3.8 million euros.
The first section, which has now started, covers a length of around 1.8 kilometres and stretches from the end of Atzendorf to the junction at the Kalkteichen. Construction will continue until the end of 2026 - cost planning: around 1.9 million euros.
The new carriageway, which has been widened to seven metres and joins the existing carriageway at the end of the village, will have an asphalt surface structure adapted to the traffic load and - also planned at a later date - a traffic island to regulate the speed of vehicles entering the village. The pilgrims on the Jacobsweg, which crosses the straight, easily visible road, have also been taken into consideration. A temporary gravel path will be created for them during the construction period for the nearby diversion.
The second construction section is in the final planning stage at the same time, then after the winter in 2027 from the lime ponds to the K 1302 / L 71 roundabout. In addition, it is planned to renew the road section of the K 1302 between the roundabout and the entrance to Lust over a length of 162 metres. Once all the planned construction work has been completed, the district road 1302 will be available to all road users in the Staßfurt area between the villages of Atzendorf and Lust.
