Bernburg. Apply for or extend your residence permit for training, study or work easily online; anytime, anywhere, without waiting. The Salzlandkreis district has further expanded its online service. People from abroad who want to study, work and live in the region can now also benefit from this. "Our immigration office offers all important procedures completely digitally. This means that many personal visits to the immigration office are no longer necessary when submitting an application. This significantly simplifies the application process for everyone involved," explains Thomas Michling, the responsible department head. Several hundred applications are processed every month.
With the new service, the district administration is implementing the requirements of the Salzlandkreis 2030 future strategy. In addition, the Salzlandkreis fulfils the requirements of the Online Access Act (OZG) in this area. The service is already available on the Salzlandkreis website. It provides step-by-step guidance in various languages through the different immigration procedures. It also explains which requirements and documents are necessary to complete the respective process.
In addition to foreign applicants, the new options will also benefit universities, volunteer social guides and associations that regularly advise people from abroad on how to apply. They can also submit applications on their own behalf with the appropriate authorisation. The service is also a benefit for local companies because, for example, the so-called accelerated skilled labour procedure can be completed online. A personal presentation at the immigration office is therefore only necessary if the applicant's biometric data needs to be recorded or the residence permit can be collected.
If a new application is received online at the Foreigners' Registration Office, the employees are automatically informed. The process is then managed using a digital file. This also means that paper is no longer necessary and there are no more postage costs. Evidence in paper form no longer needs to be submitted, and documents can also be submitted online at a later date. The employees will contact the applicant once an application has been received.
