Bernburg/Pömmelte. Ten years, seven lectures: ‘Early Bronze Age Hoards and Axes’, presented by Dr Jan-Heinrich Bunnefeld on 23 April, kicks off the series. “Clay construction – from ancient building materials to the modern era” – Dr Franziska Knoll will conclude the high-profile lecture series on 1 October, which accompanies the 2026 anniversary year of the Pömmelte Ring Sanctuary in the Salzlandkreis district.
Each month, various stations along the sky trails in Saxony-Anhalt and their attractions will be the focus of the talks by recognised experts. Probably the best-known speaker will be state archaeologist Prof. Harald Meller, who will share his wealth of knowledge about the Nebra Sky Disc up close with interested listeners at the Ring Shrine on 20 August. Of course, the ritual landscape around Pömmelte itself and traditional clay construction, which gained new attention with the TIZ in Pömmelte, will also be highlighted in lectures.
The Salzland district has published a list of all the topics and dates of the lecture series in the 2026 calendar of events for the Pömmelte Ring Shrine on its website. Always starts at 6 pm, admission 10 euros.
