Everything’s ready for little salt-sniffers

Schönebeck. Everything is different on Children’s Museum Night: the museum doesn’t open until 4.30 pm, after the final preparations for this special Saturday have been completed in and around the Salzland Museum hours earlier. The focus is on the young visitors – Schönebeck’s little ‘salt-sniffers’. The Friends’ Association and the team at the Salzland Museum have once again come up with plenty of ideas. The town of Schönebeck is supporting the big Children’s Museum Night.

Walli Wolke, the dragon child, is here. With two performances of ‘Drache gesucht’ in the gallery hall, at 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm, this popular puppet theatre promises plenty of fun and excitement.

There are plenty of other highlights to be found all around: Clown Petrino mingles with the guests, handing out balloons; a children’s face-painting station makes colourful transformations possible; a cosy reading corner with spooky stories has been set up; and there’s even a witch’s kitchen in the pharmacy. And, of course, there’s a craft station too.

Downstairs, the multimedia room transforms into a space for young Schönebeck explorers and discoverers. They get to engage with the museum’s fascinating exhibits through a range of hands-on activities. Right next door, they can make badges, and outside in the museum courtyard, Schiefer-Seppel has set up his activity area for young craftspeople.

With so much action late at night, you’ll need something to keep your strength up. Food and drink will be provided by the Salzland Museum Friends’ Association.

Admission to the Children’s Museum Night is six euros per child; accompanying adults and other visitors pay one euro.

Anyone who does well in the exhibition quiz during Children’s Museum Night will be in with a chance of winning prizes to take home – perhaps even the fantastic top prize, which we’re not going to reveal just yet.

Children’s Museum Night | Sat 24 Oct 2026 | 5.00 pm (doors open from 4.30 pm) | Admission: €6.00 (children) / €1.00 (adults) | Salzlandmuseum, Schönebeck, Pfännerstr. 41
