Aschersleben. District Administrator Markus Bauer is awaiting the financial support promised by the state for the maternity clinic in Aschersleben. “The facility in the Salzlandkreis is the only remaining point of contact for expectant mothers in the rural area between Halle and Magdeburg. It is therefore essential to create the financial conditions necessary for the clinic’s long-term operation, in accordance with the relevant regulations.”
The district administrator points out that he had already campaigned politically at state level over a year and a half ago for clinics to be able to receive so-called guarantee supplements, which are necessary for comprehensive care. To this end, Markus Bauer had asked the state government to issue a corresponding ordinance similar to other federal states. The ordinance on deviating requirements for the granting of supplements to ensure comprehensive inpatient hospital care in the state of Saxony-Anhalt has been in force since mid-December 2024. On this basis, the clinic operator Ameos, which operates in the Salzland district, was able to submit the necessary application for the maternity clinic in Aschersleben.
Markus Bauer: "We have set the course to ensure that the maternity clinic can continue to operate in the Salzland district. We acted because we recognise the importance of the location for providing care to people in rural areas." Now it is up to the responsible authorities to actually ensure the operation of the maternity clinic in this way.
