Calbe. They shred and separate – from organic waste and agricultural residues to commercial and construction waste. They are versatile and robust: the machines from Doppstadt Calbe GmbH. Since 1992, the company, which specialises in recycling, has also been a reliable employer in the Salzlandkreis district and is actively involved in the community. District Administrator Markus Bauer met with Reimund Hoffmann, who has been managing director for the past two years, a few days ago during a visit to the company. It was not the District Administrator’s first visit to Doppstadt Calbe GmbH.
Together with Tilo Wechselberger, head of the district development department, they discussed developments and the status quo of the company as well as the connections between entrepreneurial activities and society. "For me, it is important that we are in regular dialogue with companies. This allows us to help where we can and at the same time send impulses to the companies that we believe are important for society in the Salzland district," explained Markus Bauer. He thanked the Doppstadt Managing Director for his many years of commitment and invited him to the next meeting of the Salzland District Economic Advisory Council.
Doppstadt Managing Director Reimund Hoffmann, in turn, welcomed the fact that the District Administrator is also seeking personal dialogue with companies that have been active in the Salzland district for decades. The Managing Director outlined how a company that was initially characterised by agriculture became a machine manufacturer for recycling that is active at three locations in Germany and sells recycling machines worldwide, with the core business being operated in Europe. He emphasised that the company feels at home in the Salzland district, although the international political situation is having a negative impact on business.
However, he was convinced that growth is possible again at the Calbe site following last year's restructuring. This is also important for the prospects of young people from the region, said Reimund Hoffmann. According to Doppstadt, the company currently employs 190 people in Calbe in several shifts. The machine manufacturer's future industrial mechanics learn at the "Wema" vocational school in Aschersleben, while the future mechatronics engineers learn at the "Otto Allendorff" vocational school in Schönebeck. The Doppstadt Managing Director also thanked the District Administrator for his co-operation in this area.
