There is still no obligation to keep livestock indoors in the Salzlandkreis!
Without prejudice to this, every livestock owner is urgently advised to keep poultry indoors. Create the conditions that allow the poultry to remain in the stables and thus reduce the risk of introducing field viruses due to the high number of wild birds shedding! Also remember to use galoshes before entering the stables!
From 10 November 2025, all previously approved poultry exhibitions will be revoked! This means that exhibitions of chickens and waterfowl are prohibited in the Salzlandkreis district. The Salzlandkreis district makes an exception to this rule for exhibitions of pigeons only. In such cases, the district will assess eligibility for approval on a case-by-case basis.
Trade in poultry by travelling traders is prohibited for the time being.
Justification: The probability of the influenza virus being introduced is currently high, as shown by the findings in dead wild birds (especially cranes). Wild geese and wild ducks are currently in migration behaviour. Even though there have been no outbreaks in domestic poultry in the Salzland district so far, we know that the virus is still present in the area.
We will reassess the situation as the migratory bird activity subsides.
The regulations on poultry shows have been ordered across the board in Saxony-Anhalt.
