Pömmelte. Pottery, duck fishing, regional specialities, live music and a journey into the past – the autumn festival at the Pömmelte Ring Sanctuary on Sunday, 28 September promises to be a colourful event. The Salzlandkreis district invites you to join in the fun! The festival starts at 11 a.m. "There is a varied programme for the whole family – from regional delicacies and exciting hands-on activities to a unique journey back in time to the Stone Age," explains Susanne Dedow, the employee responsible for the ring sanctuary at the Department of Education and Training. Admission to the autumn festival is free for children under 14, while adults pay seven euros. All information is available online at www.ringheiligtum-pömmelte.de or by telephone on 03471 / 684 624 710.
The Salzland district has organised a regional market at the reconstruction of the millennia-old cult site, which has a lot to offer with art, culture and culinary specialities from the region, hands-on pottery for young and old, ropemaking, a bouncy castle, duck fishing, ice cream and candy floss. The "Am Colphus" inn from Barby offers homemade cakes and barbecued food. Steineiche and Harugaz provide a special atmosphere with traditional sounds and the rousing drumming skills of Aikashi Daiko. In the historic ring sanctuary itself, guests will experience a fascinating journey back to the Stone Age and Early Bronze Age over 4000 years ago. Owls and wolfhounds can be marvelled at there, while the Stone Age village of Randau and the merchant clan of "Anno 962" provide an impressive depiction of life in times gone by. The first of a total of three guided tours through the ring sanctuary starts at 12 noon.
