Bernburg/SLK. For five weeks, volunteers in the Salzlandkreis district are once again being called upon to take part in the traditional spring clean, so that dirty corners and untidiness disappear from the public eye.
"A community clean-up after the winter, taking part and being part of something bigger - that creates a clean townscape and a good feeling about who cares about your home." District Administrator Markus Bauer, together with the towns and municipalities, is calling for parks, field and forest paths, waterways and field margins to be cleared of rubbish.
The actual implementation, planning and organisation will be carried out - in the tried and tested manner - by the towns and municipalities, as they know the local conditions best. Individuals and private groups, clubs and associations, schools and day-care centres, authorities and other institutions are asked to help and should contact their town or municipal administrations.
As in previous years, the municipal waste management company KWB is supporting the campaign, which will run for several weeks, by providing the necessary bin bags and protective gloves. KWB will also accept waste free of charge at the recycling centres in Bernburg, Aschersleben and Schönebeck, provided that the city or municipal authorities have given prior notification.
