Dear fellow citizens of the Salzland district,
It's that time again. Once again in 2026, we would like to publicly thank particularly deserving citizens for their voluntary work and personal commitment to the common good in the areas of business, society, social affairs, culture, sport and youth engagement at a ceremony on 25 March at the Carl Maria von Weber Theatre in Bernburg (Saale).
I am sure that you know many women in the Salzland district who are actively involved in children's and youth work, in community or church work, in environmental and animal protection, in the fire and rescue service, in the neighbourhood or in the district. The range is broad: from the good soul in the meeting centre to the loyal driver of the "Mummy Shuttle"; from the trainer in the sports club to the learning mentor in the (vocational) school; from the supervisor of the creative circle to the trainer of the show dance group.
Surely everyone knows such a potential "Salzland woman" from their personal environment. And the focus does not necessarily have to be on many years of commitment to a good cause. It is often the many small gestures that are taken for granted by some, but by no means a matter of course.
So if you think that the achievements of women from your neighbourhood, your circle of friends and acquaintances are noteworthy in this sense, then we would be pleased to receive written information.
I would like to call on you to take a little time to nominate women who do voluntary work for the "Salzlandfrau" honour award in writing.

The organisers of the 2026 award ceremony are the Salzland district and the towns of Aschersleben, Schönebeck (Elbe), Staßfurt and Bernburg (Saale) with their equal opportunities officers, Salzlandsparkasse and Salzlandküche GmbH. Financial support is also provided by Stadtwerke Aschersleben GmbH, Stadtwerke Staßfurt GmbH, Stadtwerke Bernburg GmbH, Stadtwerke Schönebeck GmbH and Energie Mittelsachsen GmbH.
Who can nominate the "Salzlandfrau" 2026?
Every citizen as well as clubs, associations, organisations, initiatives and companies can propose awards for deserving women.
What should the nomination proposals look like?
The nomination proposals should contain as detailed a description of merits as possible, limited to one A4 page. A simple list of functions or offices is not sufficient. The nominee must be resident in the Salzland district. Self-applications are not permitted. The enclosure of current references, from which the assessment of the nominee's commitment can be seen, is desired.
Proposals may be supported by evidence, such as newspaper articles or documents from third parties. The nominee should not be informed or be informed of the proposal. The submitted documents will not be returned to the submitter.
Who checks the nomination proposals?
A jury made up of representatives from business, institutions and authorities from the Salzland district will decide on the awarding of the honour. The category of the honour will also be decided in this procedure. Legal recourse is excluded.
The jury members are aware that every nomination submitted deserves the highest recognition. Choosing which voluntary work deserves to be honoured publicly is an almost impossible task. In this respect, each jury member decides to the best of their knowledge and belief.
All proposals will be treated confidentially. Third parties will generally not receive any information on the status of the selection process, details of the engagement or the reasons for any rejection.
